Terms of use

Short, because honest terms don't need forty pages.

Updated 2026-09-11

1. What this service is

SnowReport.app presents weather-model output about snow in a decision-friendly form. It is free to use, requires no account, and is provided "as is".

2. Forecasts are estimates

Nothing on this site is a guarantee of weather. Forecasts, "snowing now" statuses, accumulation ranges, confidence tags and Ski Meter scores are automated interpretations of numerical weather models. They can be wrong, occasionally very wrong. Displayed ranges and confidence tags exist precisely because of this uncertainty.

3. Safety decisions

Do not use this site as your only input for decisions involving safety of life or property: mountain travel, avalanche terrain, road journeys in severe weather, aviation or marine activity. Always follow the official warnings of your national weather service, local avalanche bulletins and road authorities. In avalanche terrain, nothing on the internet replaces training, equipment and local advice.

4. Resort information

Resort elevations, season windows and travel notes are curated editorial approximations, marked as such, and can go out of date. Ski Meter scores read the atmosphere only; they do not reflect lift operations, grooming, snowmaking or measured base depth. Verify with the resort before you travel.

5. Data licensing

Weather and geocoding data are provided by Open-Meteo.com under CC BY 4.0 and are adapted for display here. Site design, text and code are © snowreport.app / plainforge. You may link to any page freely; please don't scrape and republish the site wholesale.

6. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SnowReport.app and its operator accept no liability for losses arising from use of, or inability to use, this site or its data. If your jurisdiction does not permit such a limitation, the limitation applies to the extent it permits.

7. Partner links

Destination pages, the season question guides, the landing page, the snow report and the Ski Meter carry outbound links marked with a visible "Partner link" tag. Destination pages and the question guides carry the partners that can serve the place or the region in question, up to five at a time. On the report and the Ski Meter the links appear below a finished result, never inside one, and never more than three at a time. On the landing page a fixed set of four sits at the foot of the page, below the instrument and the guides. In every case a free route is offered above them. Partners that trade in some countries and not others are shown only where they can actually sell: the two package partners below cover Andorra, Austria, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland, and the two ski-rental partners cover fewer still, so none of them appears for a resort or a search outside its own countries, nor on a guide that covers none of them. Only one rental partner is ever shown at a time. The chalet partner below appears on the Kitzbühel page only, where it takes the UK package partner's place. As of the date above the active partners are Discover Cars (car hire comparison, operated by Discover Car Hire AS, Riga), Booking.com (accommodation), Airalo (prepaid eSIM data), Faye (travel insurance, available to US residents only), SnowTrex (package ski holidays, operated by TravelTrex GmbH; tracked by a code in the link itself), Skiworld (package ski holidays departing the UK, operated by Skiworld Ltd, 14 Turnham Green Terrace Mews, London W4 1QU, registered in England no. 02874579, ATOL 2036, ABTA V2151), ChaletsPlus (chalet rentals in the Kitzbühel ski area, booked as an intermediary, so the rental agreement is with the chalet's lessor; operated under that trading name by YTJ Vakantiewoningen B.V., Tielweg 10, 2803 PK Gouda, Netherlands, KvK Gouda 51754258, a member of the Dutch travel guarantee fund SGR), Netski (ski rental in France, Italy, Spain and Andorra, operated by CELS, Compagnie Européenne des Loueurs de Skis SA, RCS Nanterre 877 610 923) and Skiset (ski rental in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, operated by CFLS, Compagnie Française des Loueurs de Skis SA, RCS Nanterre 401 734 892; the link opens its German-language site). Netski and Skiset are sister companies of the same French group, which is why only one of them is ever offered on a page. Booking.com, Airalo, Faye, Skiworld, ChaletsPlus, Netski and Skiset are tracked through Takeads (tatrck.com). If you follow such a link and book, the operator may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. What each partner sells, where it sells it and what its cover includes are the partner's own terms, not ours. These are plain tagged links; no partner scripts or pixels run on this site, and conditions data and Ski Meter scores are never influenced by partnerships.

8. Operator

This site is operated by the person identified in the Imprint, which carries the full operator record: name, correspondence address, VAT identification number and direct contact. snowreport.app is part of the plainforge workshop.

9. Changes

These terms may change as the service evolves; the date above is the version stamp. Questions: hello@plainforge.com.
