Why it snows here
170 km above the Arctic Circle. Snow arrives in October and simply does not leave; polar night cold preserves a shallow but rock-solid base for seven months.
Reading Levi like a forecaster
The number that matters most at Levi is the difference between the base (205 m) and the summit (531 m): when the freezing level sits between the two, the mountain is split into rain or wet snow below and dry snow above.
