Breckenridge snow report
The alpine closes. Wind, cold and flat light shut the summit, and the hike-to terrain is often held back for avalanche work, so treat the top as a bonus rather than the plan. An early-November opening runs on manufactured snow: one trail in 2025. You also sleep at 2,926 m, with no low-altitude staging to acclimatise on.

Why it snows here
The east faces of Peaks 6 to 10 of the Tenmile Range, north of the Continental Divide, with the tree line near 3,505 m so the top 400 m of vertical is open alpine bowl. The town's own weather station records about 469 cm a year against roughly 745 cm on the hill, and that gap is the orographic signal. Season totals have run from 673 cm to 985 cm.

The number that matters most at Breckenridge is the difference between the base (2926 m) and the summit (3962 m): when the freezing level sits between the two, the mountain is split into rain or wet snow below and dry snow above.
