Baqueira Beret snow report
Spain's largest and busiest resort, with almost the whole domain above the treeline. Wind, not warmth, is the usual reason a lift stops here: the local torb closes upper chairs and the Bonaigua pass road together. The base is a modern purpose-built development, and the eating and staying worth the trip are down in Vielha, 16 km away.

Why it snows here
The Val d'Aran is the only Catalan valley that drains north to the Atlantic, so north-westerly storms unload here before the Pyrenean watershed wrings the air dry for the Mediterranean-facing Spanish resorts. Accumulation at 1,800 m has ranged from 320 cm to 702 cm across the last four seasons.
Reading Baqueira Beret like a forecaster
